Laskarina Holidays Brochure

Laskarina Holidays were award-winning Greek travel specialists offering holidays to the unspoilt, 'off the beaten track' islands of Greece. The company set out to help discerning travellers experience all that is quintessentially Greek, away from the typical package holiday experience.

A Family Company with Greek Roots

Laskarina Holidays was started by Ian and Kate Murdoch in 1976 in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, as an alternative to the kind of package holidays supplied by larger tour operators. It remained a very small family company of 16 UK staff, later based in the village of Bolney, West Sussex, supported by 17 British representatives in Greece.

The Story Behind the Name

The company took its name from the famous heroine Laskarina Bouboulina, a native of the island of Spetses, where the holidays first began 28 years ago. According to local legend, Laskarina was an incredibly brave privateer who captained a fleet of sailing ships, causing chaos during the Turkish Occupation of Greece and helping to spark the Greek War of Independence in 1821.

A Personal Approach to Travel

Laskarina knew its islands and every house in the programme inside out, and genuinely cared about each holiday, hoping clients would return for more.
