Towns - The capital, Mahon, with its mixture of narrow cobbled streets and Georgian architecture is an interesting town built around one of the world's largest and finest natural inland harbours. Ciutadella, at the opposite end of the island, offers a contrast retaining much of the Moorish influence. It has an attractive port surrounded by narrow arcaded streets.
Shopping - Known for its leather goods, jewellery, cheese and local gin! You can visit the gin factory in Mahon offering tours and tastings. It is worth looking out for local markets too.
Cuisine - The freshly caught fish and shellfish are delicious and you must try the Mahon cheese. Enticing waterside restaurants at Mahon harbour and Ciutadella can be a gourmet's delight. Generally, children are welcome everywhere and there is enough variety of dishes to suit everyone's tastes.
Entertainment - is for the family. Hotels, clubs and bars will offer occasional shows and live music in the high season. There are a few discos and lively bars for the young and young at heart.
Fiestas - These are spectacular! You can see magnificent Menorcan horses with riders wearing traditional black and white costumes, reliving a ritual that goes back to the 16th century.
