Whatever a visitor's needs, the aim is that they enjoy their holiday, with information and assistance given wherever possible. Many visitors return each year from far afield.

The village of Polruan

Polruan is an ancient nautical village on the south-eastern shore of Fowey Harbour, mid-way along the south Cornish coast between Falmouth and Plymouth. It is often spoken of as a 'fishing village', and a few professional fishermen remain, but boatbuilding and other activities connected with the busy and beautiful harbour have played, and still play, an equally important role throughout its long history.

Sailing and watersports

For those whose first priority is to sail or otherwise 'mess about in boats', Fowey has become one of the West Country's major sailing centres. Visitors will find:

  • Two active clubs: the Royal Fowey Yacht Club and the Fowey Gallants Sailing Club
  • A welcoming Harbour Master, himself a keen small-boat sailor, providing facilities for yachtsmen at reasonable cost
  • Good facilities for sea-fishing and other watersports
